Welcome to Waiheke Alpaca and the Scott family comprising of Keenan, Lisa and their three young Children, Jessica, Mitchell and Charlie-Kate. We are very passionate about our Alpaca herd and their well being. This care extends through to long after animals have been sold and have left the farm with free advice and hands on assistance with Alpaca husbandry. Keenan is very active around the Show arena being a NZ Alpaca Judge in all facets including Huacaya, Suri and Fleece, Active Show Steward, and of course showing alpacas ourselves. So don't hesitate to say Gidday.
Our Alpacas thrive on our Waiheke farm in the moderate climate, low facial eczema conditions on our Organic Pastures. Presently we are breeding exclusively Huacaya of all colours concentrating on Breeding highly advanced Fleeced Alpaca fast tracking utilising Embryo Transfer. Selected Advanced Donors and Sires are DNA, Skin Follicle and Gift tested to provide tangible and predictable results.
Breeding Program
We continually source animals of superior genetics and high quality to compliment this breeding system. Some of our recent imports include superfine Fawn, Black and Gray animals unique to Waiheke Alpaca in NZ. Keenan regularly visits Australia and has many opportunities to visit major alpaca shows, auctions, other breeders and Breed / Fleece Development Courses. To fast track their Breeding program Waiheke Alpaca have been carrying out Embryo Transfer on our elite Dams both in Australia and with unprecidented success here in NZ. This has included the last ET programme involving Purumbette Inti who has now finished his Breeding life. Some of these ET Progeny are presently for sale.
Additional Services
We also offer a mobile Shearing service, Shearing Tuition, operate a Homestay facility and are involved in the Import and Export of Alpacas.
Alpaca Garments
In parallel to the Alpacas themselves, we import fine, high quality Alpaca garments and home wear including: Teddy Bears and Floor Rugs which we sell alongside our own label. A Road front shop is on the drawing board hopefully to be built in the new year to showcase these beautiful non allergenic products
